Most people, when hearing the word "chimera", imagine monsters created by crazy scientists. "Scientists" try to prove with all means that Human cells can indeed be reproduced and form fully fledged and healthy organs in animals. Mice and rats are pretty close genetically, so creating chimeras in this case is not a problem. But in case of humans and pigs, everything can be different. Scientists are already testing the complementation of a pig embryo with human stem cells. Studies began after the three commissions on bioethics approval. Stanford University, which conducts research, limited the time of embryo development by 28 days (piglets are born on the 114 day). Nevertheless, the fetus is sufficiently developed to determine the correctness the rudiments of the organs formation. Recently, the NIH proposed to replace the moratorium with additional expertise, which will be carried out by a committee consisting of both ethics and animal protection experts. So the development trend of this subject is obvious. However, I am sure, and to be more precise, I know that all these "experiments" will lead to nothing, except, perhaps, big talk, promises and waste of money of those (genotypes) who console oneselves with hopes. And no NIH will help. There are no successes and failures.
