F. Shkrudnev N. Levashov's "SvetL Broom" in A. Khatybov's "Bath School" and A Labour Spade 13 11. When in England gas lighting was already introduced, French engineer Lebrue presented a lighting project for Paris, having created gas lamps in his laboratory, and invited the public for the examination. But they only laughed at him, and no one came to see it. The "scientists" of that time incited the people, stirring them up against the bold inventor. As a result of this persecution on December 2, 1804, Lebrue was brutally murdered by fanatics-hirelings of those in power. And the capital of France, now often called the "city of light", got gas lighting only 14 years later - in 1818. Even then, the ruling clan was afraid of light!.. 12. At one time Paris Academy of Sciences stated that neither hypnosis nor telepathy exist, despite hundreds of experiments and facts convincingly proving the opposite. In such situations they say: "The worse for the facts!" Here is a quotation from the sketch of Art. Zweig "Frans Anton Mesmer": "Since 1820 in every village, every city of France, Europe and America amateur magnetizes have been showing in the crowded halls the examples of the most striking influence on people, neither half-educated nor even a quarter educated person will deny them. "Even if this idea was feasible, it would have no practical value, except for circus tricks," they wrote about him in the newspapers of that time... 15. OnMarch 11, 1878, physicist Dumonsel demonstrated Edison phonograph to members of French Academy of Sciences. When the apparatus began to repeat the first phrase recorded by him, one member of the Academy, imbued with the proud consciousness of the "scientific immutability" of his convictions, the traditions of orthodox physics (of that time), rushed to the researcher and grabbed him by the throat, shouting: "We will not let ourselves be deceived by the ventriloquist! "And even after the "scientist "was thoroughly acquainted with the principle of the apparatus, he
